Utter political bastardry

Grumpy Old Coot politically incorrect social commentator and humouristOh how the mighty are falling! Well, that's the way it looks from down here anyway.

The chap to whom I refer is none other than Tony Blah, British Prime Monster - a man coated with political teflon and armed with a PR machine that makes Nazi Germany's propaganda machine look second rate.

Now old Tony has been in a bit of bother ever since the War Against Iraq.

There has been a British public backlash against his backing America so hard and members of his own party have thrown in their red towels and are murmuring menacingly.

Poor old Tony, he just wanted to be so popular - and that is his main achilles heel.

Other leaders who are not so poll-driven, like our own Good Johnny, make a decision because that's what they believe is right and go with it. There is no fiddle-faddling around and nervous glances towards the media. It needs to be done, do it.

Mind you, poor old Tony is in even more bother over the suicide of a top British scientist Dr David Kelly, who gave info to the BBC and that led to more bad press for the PM over the reasons for going to war.

It seems that his press office - no doubt filled with feral toecutters ready to jump on any criticism with size 50 boots - smeared the name of the good scientist in a deliberate campaign to lessen the impact of his information.

While other media organisations may use nice little euphemisms for this sort of campaign I'll be subtle and just call it utter political bastardry. Whoever is responsible should be sacked and will hopefully face criminal charges.

People who use high political office to destroy good honest folk just doing their jobs - or what they see is right - are bullying scum too cowardly for pleasant words.

It's a good example of why the public should be ever wary of populist leaders who grow fat on our society's desire to inflate the abilities, worth and opinions of those who are stars in the cult of personality.
