Brave Kids Deserve to call Australia Home

Don't know about you guys, but I was really impressed by the young kids who managed to elude our fantastically efficient security mobs and turned up at the British consulate in Melbourne asking for asylum.

Yup, an entire nation's protectors were beaten by a couple of youngsters - aged 10 or 11 - who were sick to death of being cooped up in Woomera and wanted to escape to Pommie-land (Horrors).

Now, while I objected to the Tampa invaders, I reckon these kids, and their family, deserve instant citizenship of this country for being clever enough - and brave enough - to get as far as they did.

I doubt that most Australian adults would have been able to do so and these are just the sort of immigrants our nation needs. People who will get off their backsides and fight for things.

And - I have to admit - it starts getting me a little worried about how protected we are and I am damn sure all the followers of I'man OverLaden Bin have noted such crap security Down Under.

Let's put it this way, while Aussies have a good intelligence lead over the Americans this sort of cock-up invites terrorists to head our way.

Personally, I'd plonk the security chiefs into Woomera for a while and let them seriously ask themselves if they are worth the money we pay them when two young nippers can get by them.

And I put to the Prime Monster that while we do need to decide who comes in and who does not, every Australian - bar the Immigration Monster - will have admiration for these little guys who have beaten the odds to succeed in getting to a potential sanctuary.

The fact that the Poms have rejected them is as much a shame to them as it will be to us if we do not recognise their feat.

So, PM, don't stick to the allegedly hardline of "they shall not pass" for these two little fellows. By doing so it is only accepting a soft-dick response to an act of utter courage that all Australians admire.

And don't come up with some bullshit line about setting a precedent. Honour these children and their family by straight out giving them our fine land as a home.

We need them far more than all the Australia Post managers, or Tram Nazis, we are inflicted with.

And I have to say that if any young escapee needs assistance to get to a consulate, high commission or embassy to ask for asylum then I am your man. Sod those who can't recognise bravery and woe betide any a-hole who gets in my way.

If a child wants to do it, then an old codger like me can at least try to help them. And if the authorities don't like it - well, they can blow me!
