Soddem the Musical
At
the risk of getting a suicide bomber running into the old
folks' home we have to mention the latest plans of that raving
lunatic Soddem Hussein.
Now Soddem, a man renown for starting big wars (which he
tends to get thumped in) has turned his eyes from raising
hell with chemical weapons and tanks - to raising theatrical
curtains.
Yup, Iraq's No.1 pin up man is said to have used his writing
talent, usually reserved for death sentences, for something
more terrifying - a musical.
I can just hear it now. The glorious Gulf War tale of Zabiba
and the King. Pretty damn catchy, huh?
Apparently Iraq's surviving artistic community has fair thronged
to be in the production, which is about a king who falls in
love with a married woman who is attacked by the evil US-led
imperialist forces.
Having seen a transcript of some of Soddem's speeches (I'm
still waiting on the tapes) I reckon this latest writing effort
will be a winner.
Here are some of the songs: Eye of the Tigris, Khe Sand,
Flaming Trees, Heads Are Burning, Camel Lot, Dune Bagdad Way,
And Iran.
Tickets are available at all good booking stores, although
there are no refunds.
