More Savings? Well Make It Worthwhile.
The
last thing we need to hear on a chilly Monday morning is the
fresh chorus of moaners going on about the poor savings records
of Australians.
Figures just out show that as a nation, we save only 2.5
cents in the dollar. Some people must be lucky to be able
to afford that because I'm stuffed if I can.
The boffins, and those in the know, say our savings have
plummeted - even from 10 years ago - when instead of the current
$9 billion, we had some $15 billion in banks.
Now these facts and figures are all very well, but have the
moral piggy-bank stockers ever thought about why people may
not be saving more.
- It could be that they like buying those new-fangled DVD-thingies.
- Howabout they like eating out (and if you copped the food
we do here at the home, that's no damn surprise).
- Could it be that the compulsory 9% supperannuation has
taken people's mind of that passbook account.
- Maybe ... just maybe ... people hate those grubby, corporate,
anti-social pack of soulless tossers called bankers so much
they don't want their loot tied up with them.
- On the same subject, people may not be able to put more
money into the banks because they can't afford the poxy
charges!
Now all the above are perfectly valid reasons for
not saving big bikkies, but I reckon there's just one more.
And it should be pretty damn obvious to even the most obtuse
of save-more-money know alls.
We will endeavour to save more money and make the worriers
sleep better, if the powers-that-be will STOP TAXING THE
PIDDLING 3% INTEREST WE GET!!!!!!!
You greedy a-holes stop people even thinking about saving
because it just isn't worth while. So rack off.
