Documentary maker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) makes films about Morgan Spurlock.
Usually
he's also doing something to illustrate a larger issue – eating junk
food to prove that it's bad, looking for Osama Bin Laden to show how
little the West knows about the Middle East, and so on.
This
time, he's making a movie about product placement that's about him
trying to get product placement for the movie he's making.
Time travel is not involved.
It's
a great gimmick and there's a lot of fun moments as we see Spurlock
first trying to find companies willing to put up cash and products for
the film, then has to incorporate their demands into his finished film
(which turns out pretty well).
That's all there is to this
though; if you're after an in-depth exploration of product placement,
how it works and why it's bad (or good), this isn't for you.
Spurlock
doesn't so much explore the issue as simply show how it works with some
jokes thrown in; seems he's made another film about himself after all. 3 out
