Three young women decide to escape their drab American live and take a vacation to the city of love – Paris.
Grace
(Selena Gomez) has just graduated high school and wants out of Texas;
her best friend, trashy high school drop-out Emma (Katie Cassidy) is
happy to use the break to kick-start her flagging relationship.
Bad
news is, Grace's dour stepsister Meg (Leighton Meester) has to come
too, and when they arrive in Paris to discover their package tour is
somewhat less fancy than advertised it looks like Meg's no-fun attitude
might be justified.
But all it takes is one mix up after
sheltering from the rain in a fancy hotel and suddenly Grace is being
mistaken for a snooty UK heiress – and with the planning to blow off
her charity work in Monte Carlo in favour of partying hard in Paris,
that leaves a private jet and a huge pile of luggage just waiting for
the trio to commandeer. What follows is your standard
Cinderella story as the girls discover romance, big flowing ball gowns,
a make-up kit the size of a refrigerator and plenty of opportunities to
ogle the sights of Monte Carlo. While it's utterly
predictable on every single level, some of the jokes and one-liners are
pretty good, and all three actresses are likable enough to keep you in
your seat. Fluff doesn't get much fluffier than this, but
what are you doing looking for depth and meaning in a film that mostly
seems to involve polo matches, riding around on scooters, and wearing
million dollar necklaces? 3 out
