Movie Buzz : The Avengers Movie - Suck or Not?

Avengers Movie

Will Marvel's The Avengers movie suck donkey's balls?

It's something we've all contemplated - and even after Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk turned out pretty damn well - it's something we still are worrying about.

Thankfully, the movie and comic book nerds across the globe aren't the only ones.

In fact, I'm taking a little bit of solace (perhaps a Quantum of Solace?) in the fact that even the stars of the film are getting worried long before the cameras even roll.

Because if there is one man's opinion that could ensure a movie stays on the right track... it's Robert Downey Jr.

Chatting to MTV News, Downey Jr suggested that "If we don't get it right it is really, really going to suck".

He went on to suggest that "It has to be the crowning blow of Marvel's best and brightest because it's the hardest thing to get right. It's tough to spin all the plates for one of these characters".

Having become the poster boy for the rejuvenated Marvel Movie universe (and also the first big name to sign onto not only Iron Man 2 but The Avengers movie) the pressure is now on.

And the reason seems to be that the precedent set by John Favreau's serious take on the Iron Man universe clashing with the more outragoues characters set to hit our screens.

"The danger you run with colliding all these worlds is [director] Jon [Favreau] was very certain that Iron Man should be set in a very realistic world. Nothing that happened in Iron Man is really outside the realm of possibility".

"Once you start talking about Valhalla and supersized super soldiers and jolly green giants it warrants much further discussion".

Well, the ex-con has a point there doesn't he?
