Movie Buzz : Indiana Jones 5

Shia LaBeouf Suggests New Indiana Jones Movie On The Way

By Sean Lynch
Indiana Jones 5 : Harrison Ford

Has Steven Spielberg and George Lucas cracked the case, finally deciding on the direction of the new Indiana Jones 5 sequel?

With promotion for Transformers : Revenge Of The Fallen moving into top gear, it was only a matter of time before someone sat down with it's star (and son of Indiana Jones, Mutt Williams) Shia LaBeouf and asked the big question :

What's happening with the new Indiana Jones movie?

According to an interview with the BBC, Shia LaBeouf has revealed that "Steven [Spielberg] had cracked the story on it" and that they are now in the process of "gearing that up".

Despite Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull taking a bucket load of cash at the Worldwide Box Office last yea, there was still quite a bit of speculation as to whethe or not the film would go ahead.

It seems that even though the film grossed over $780M wordwide, another $110M+ on DVD (making it the second highest grossing movie of 2008 behind The Dark Knight), Spielberg and Co were taken aback by the negative response - putting them cold on a potential fifth film in the franchise..

After all - that last movie sucked... how the French say... "balls".

However, Indy fans shouldn't get too excited, the film is still a while off yet.  Currently Spielberg is in the process of finishing off Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn (with Peter Jackson) as well as in Pre-Production mode on the civil war drama Lincoln,(which, I assume is about the US President... not a spin-off movie for that annoying character from Prisonbreak).

George Lucas also seems to have his hands full "raping people's childhoods" once again, with a live action Star Wars series in the works.

All of this leads to the potenital new film being pushed back until at least 2012 - so Indy fans will have to keep themselves occupied in the Temple Of Indiana Jones until then it seems.
