Indiana Jones and the Ravages of
Age
The
Man in the hat is back! For the first time since 1989, Harrison Ford
dons the familiar costume on Thursday, June 21, 2007, as the
upcoming Indiana
Jones adventure begins production under the direction of
Steven Spielberg.
The new Indiana Jones
movie is set in the 1950s and stars Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, John
Hurt, Ray Winstone and Jim Broadbent . The Lucasfilm Ltd. production
will be released by Paramount Pictures worldwide on May 22, 2008. The
pic below is the first look at the new flick which is being closely
guarded, which is strange, as Spielberg is credited for taking the
photo in question!
Justice
League before Superman Returns sequel?
Now this
is interesting.
Not long ago, the folks at MovieHole stated that the powers-at-be at
Warner Bros were considering doing a Justice League
movie before the Superman
sequel. The report was later debunked by a couple of other sites - one
of them being Variety who, funnily enough, are the ones running this story - and
their sources?
Well,
all we can say is…. Um, actually, we don’t know what to say, besides…
we told you something was cooking and here’s the pot to prove it.
Here’s what Variety reported today :
One
of the more ambitious projects around town — the bigscreen adaptation
of DC Comics' Justice League — cleared a major hurdle last
week.
Husband-wife
writing duo Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney turned in a first
draft that had Warner Bros. suits actually smiling — no small feat,
considering Justice follows a half-dozen of the best-known
superheroes working together, including Batman and Superman.
But
the accomplish-ment raises a tricky question for Warners: Should it
release Justice before its Superman Returns sequel?
Christopher
Nolan’s next Batman pic The Dark Knight bows in July 2008.
Bryan Singer’s Superman
follow-up had been expected to play in 2009. But there’s no script yet
for that pic, while Singer is busy getting ready to shot Tom Cruise
starrer Valkyrie for UA.
The question now: Will a souped-up Justice League
prove to be Kryptonite to Superman?
It’s
a definite possibility. Our contact at the Burbank water tower insists
that it’s always been a consideration to release Justice League
before Superman
Returns II.
First
Look: Where the Wild Things Are
It's
been one of the most highly guarded film sets in a long long time. Shot
in and around Australia, the cast were forced to sign strict
confidentiality agreements - so much so, that actor Angus Sampson was
not even allowed to comment on anything even remotley connected to the
film.
None the less, we have managed to deliver
you one of the first looks at an ‘actual’ image from Spike
Jonze’s Where
the Wild Things Are, the film based on the popular
children's book.

Will
Raimi direct Spider-Man 4?
A few months back it would’ve taken a noose and a lighting bolt to lure
Sam Raimi back to the Spider-Man
franchise. According to Raimi, he was as good as finished with his
contribution to the film series – pity it had to end on the low note
that was Spider-Man 3
– and wished Sony, and whoever takes over as director, all the success
in the world with the next bunch of sequels (Sony already plan to do
three more films in the series).
Pretty big carrot must have
been dangled in front of Raimi’s face because he’s changed his tune.
Talking to MTV, it now sounds as if the Raimster might be quietly
considering directing another chapter in the web-slinging series.
"If
I can't find the right story that would work for me and that I could
tell really well, I would like someone else to tell that story, "Raimi
said. “But if it's a great story and Sony will bring me back to the
screen, I would love to."
We assume Raimi just doesn’t want in if it’s going to be
another Spider-Man
3
and by that we mean he doesn’t want the producers pushing things on
him/the movie – like, say, Venom! And fifty different sub-plots – that
aren’t in the best interests of the finished product.
If Raimi, who’d only do it if Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst return,
does decide to direct the next film, he has a few ideas.
"I would love to see Electro, Vulture, maybe
the Sinister Six as a team," he said.
It
seems a no-brainer that Dylan Baker will finally get a chance to
transform his Dr Curt Connors into the Lizard, in the next one, right?
"I
love Dylan Baker as a person, and I really like the character he is
developing," the filmmaker said of the actor who appears in the past
two Spider-Man
movies.
"The Lizard is probably one of my favorite characters," he said of the
baddie Connors eventually became in the comics. "But [Spider-Man 4] will
probably have to start with the central journey of the main character
to arrive at the proper villain."
Bottom
line, "I would still hope that Sony would offer it to me [to direct]
first," he said. "But that is not my place to say; it would be more
about if Sony decided not to go with me. If not, it would be really up
to them to come to a solution [for me to still be involved as a
producer]."
Kill Bill sequels to shoot in
China?
Quentin
Tarantino will shoot two sequels to the Kill Bill movies in
China, according to Crienglish.com.
The
films executive producer, Bennett Walsh, said the third film will
involve “the revenge of two killers whose arms and eyes were hacked by
Uma Thurman in the first stories”, the site quoted the money-man as
saying. “The fourth instalment of the popular kung fu action films
concerns a cycle of reprisals and daughters who avenge their mother's
deaths”.
Shatner out of Star Trek prequel?
Bill is
pissed. Bill is very pissed.
William
Shatner is considering using his phaser gun on the powers-that-be over
at Paramount. Apparently they’ve decided to leave him out - despite
rumours that he’d appear at the start of the film, briefly, as Kirk –
of the forthcoming Star
Trek prequel movie.
Funnily enough, Leonard Nimoy has been offered a role.
Strange Indeed. Spock but no Kirk? What’s gone on here ya think? Did
Bill insist to provide a song for the soundtrack ya think?
Shatner "is very upset," an insider tells The New York Post, "and has
been lobbying for a role."
Unless
the role he was lobbying for was that of ‘young’ Kirk? Heh. Dunno. All
we can suggest is that he find himself a good lawyer… we hear Boston Legal
is good.
