Paranormal Activity 2
Review
by Sean Lynch
Horror movies aren't exactly hard to find.
Next to XXX adult entertainment, horror movies are churned out onto
movie screens and DVD shelves more often that any other genre.
And much like your common XXX flicks - most
horror movies are exactly the same, and very few are particularly good.
So going into Paranormal Activity 2,
most will be more than aware that the template of the original hit
movie haven't been changed all that much. In fact, aside from throwing
in a few more cliche' characters, this puppy is exactly the same.
Not that it's particularly bad thing -
creepy is creepy, after all.
Paranormal
Activity 2 is a prequel to Paranormal Activity
and is a pretty simple set up : Upon moving into a new house with her
family, the sister of Katie begins to experience a series of
hauntings.
After experiencing what the new family think
are a series of "break-ins", they set up security cameras around their
home, only to realize that the events unfolding before them are more
sinister than they seem.
Much like last time (aside from a few more
camera angles on offer), the scares don't so much come from the movie
itself - but the idea and concept of demons and the devil
them self.
You will in no way remember any moment from
the film (after all, chairs moving and doors slamming aren't anywhere
near as attention grabbing as a masked killer in a slasher film) but
you'd be hard pressed to go home without double checking every door and
stool in your own home once the credits have started to roll.
By no means a waste of time - but if you're
after similar thrills, there are plenty of others who have done it
much, much better.
