Sorority
Row seems like yet another dumb slasher film, but wait a
minute...
Once you look past the various stock-standard slasher elements there is
actually signs of intelligent life in this film. Not that the
intelligence is being put to good use.
After all, this is a film about a group of "sorority bitches"
who end up accidentally killing one of their friends in a prank gone
wrong (only to have her corpse seemingly drag itself out of the
mineshaft they dumped it down and start killing them on their final
night as sorority sisters).
So any signs of "smarts" is a definite plus.
For one thing, it can't of been easy to figure out a plot that
explained why the sorority sisters are either in their underwear,
taking a shower, or in skanky party dresses for the entire film - but
they managed it.
And it can't have been simple to come up with ways for the killer (who
uses a "pimped out" tire-iron to commit the murders - a tire iron being
the way the first girl was killed) to kill each and every girl by
stabbing them through the mouth.
But they managed it!
There is some other stuff happening here, including a marginally
competent whodunit angle regarding the killers identity and a
shotgun-toting Carrie Fisher.
But seriously - you are here to see barely dressed cute girls being
menaced by a killer, and that is pretty much all you are going to get.
