As far as I know, Matthew Perry has never been one to command the Box Office dollars.
We all know his CV boasts (far to often for my liking) that he was in The Whole Nine Yards - but aside from that, the only film I can ever recall attending the cinemas with him in the film was Fools Rush In.
Remember that? No? Neither does anyone else!
So why not team up with the biggest youth-aged star of the decade in High School Musical's Zac Efron - a name we will all no doubt forget before this decade is out...
This
latest flick is a rehash of an idea which has been done to death (there
was a similar film starring Kirk Cameron and Dudley Moore in the early
90s) but it's a fairly solid premise for mainstream audiences to throw
their cash away on.
The flick follows a popular high school
senior Mike O'Donnell (Zac Efron) who, 25 years later as an adult
(played by Matthew Perry), finds his life is not exactly what he
expected.
He is separated from his wife, and living with his
best friend Ned Freedman, his career at a pharmaceutical company is at
a stand still and his relationships with his teenage children are
nonexistent.
As Mike is driving home from the high school, he
sees the mysterious janitor standing on the ledge preparing to jump
into the Los Angeles River. Mike rushes out of his car to rescue him,
but when he gets there, the janitor has vanished. What Mike doesn't
realize is that he is about to fall into the river and turn into his 17
year old self.
If it does well, Efron and Perry should write a letter to Tom Hanks and the crew of Big to say "Thanks".
