After Earth
Sneak Peek at "After Earth"
It's been a few years since Will Smith took on a massive, big screen, epic. Sure, MIB3 was "technically" a blockbuster, but it's not the sort in which his name alone carried the film (for the record the flick made over $600M worldwide, yet I don't remember a single moment from it). So it's interesting to see his return comes in the form of a nepotistic vehicle for his son.
After Earth continues the trend of space-era epics heading our way this summer (Oblivion, Pacific Rim) and looks like an absolute winner.
It follows the plight of two men after a crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape.
With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
Some people are worried about this one purely because of its director - M. Night Shyamalan. While he was the king of Hollywood for a long time, but in recent years his track record has not proved impressive. So it'll be interesting to see where this goes, especially because THERE IS A TWIST IN THE TRAILER.
Will that leave any twists left for the movie?
