Sneak Peak at
"The Amazing Spider-Man"
It's the reboot of the franchise no one asked
for. In fact, of all the superhero franchises floating around, Sam
Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was quite possibly the most revered and
successful outside of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight series.
In fact, even the much loved Iron Man struggled with it's second outing
- so the question has to be asked : Why this franchise? Why now?
The film, shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012 and
stars Andrew Garfield (taking over from Toby McGuire), Emma Stone, Rhys
Ifans (as The Lizard), Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin
Sheen, and Sally Field.
Directed by Marc Webb (fresh off 500 Days of Summer) from a screenplay
by James Vanderbilt and Alvin Sargent and Steve Kloves based on the
Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko this promises to be a
fresh and youthful take on the Spider-Man universe.
Sadly, trailers so far have suggested little change from the origin
story we already know. So it will be interesting to see if audiences
are willing to give this one a go, but more importantly, if it even has
anything slightly new to say. Whereas the amazing The Dark Knight Rises
trailer left you wanting more, this trailer leaves you with little more
than the knowledge that you've just seen the entire movie already.
