I wasn't around for the Astro Boy phenomenon. I missed it by just a few years, by my older brother grew up right in the thick of it. And while I totally understand the iconic nature of the character, you kind of get the feeling that the kiddies of today aren't exactly craving Astro Boy.

That said, Alvin And The Chipmunks was a huge movie... just enormous! So I could be totally wrong on this one.

In case you can't quite pick why this trailer looks familiar, it's because it is. It seems the same folks that rebooted TMNT (or, to the children on the 1980s and 1990s, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) have gotten their greasy hands on this puppy as well.

Imagi Studios Astro Boy, based on the classic Japanese cartoon series will featuring the voices of Nicolas Cage (will he have CGI hairplugs in this?), Kristen Bell, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucas (of Little Britain fame) and Freddie Highmore.

Could be fun - but we might need more than just a teaser to make a full judgement.
