The Bourne Legacy

Sneak Peek at "The Bourne Legacy"

If it's not a sequel, it's a prequel. If it's not a reboot, it's a re imagining. People have suggested there is no originality left in Hollywood, but the truth is : it isn't Hollywood's fault. We, the viewers, are the ones who invest far more time, energy (and more importantly) cash into franchises than original concepts.

So, it's of no surprise that even when Matt Damon refuses to tarnish his own Bourne Legacy - the money men work out a way to let the legacy live on.

The narrative architect behind the Bourne film series, Tony Gilroy, takes the helm in the next chapter of the hugely popular espionage franchise that has earned almost $1 billion at the global box office : The Bourne Legacy.

The writer / director expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum with an original story that introduces us to a new hero (Jeremy Renner) whose life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the events of the first three films.

For The Bourne Legacy, Renner joins fellow series newcomers Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, while franchise veterans Albert Finney, Joan Allen, David Strathairn and Scott Glenn reprise their roles.

Is Renner a suitable replacement for Damon? We've been force fed Renner for quite some time now (Mi4, The Avengers, etc), Hollywood wants to trick us into believing he is a star. But much like plane food - just because it's the only thing you let us eat, doesn't make it taste better.

It's make or break time for Renner, a marketing and management created star in every sense of the word.
