Sneak Peak at "Cemetery Junction"
with
Sean Lynch
While many are questioning the merit of The Office star, Ricky Gervais' penned comedy The Invention Of Lying - there is no doubt that the first film from Gervais and his Extras / Office partner Stephen Merchant will be an absolute cracker!
The film was originally titled The Man from the Pru,
a colloquial term (and later an advertising slogan) for agents of the
Prudential insurance company. During the writing of the film, the
Prudential allowed Ricky and Steve to use their archives for research,
however, after reading the finished script, the company decided it was
not pleased with how they were to be portrayed in the film and decided
not to allow their name to be used.
The new title comes from
the name of a road junction in the East Reading district of the town of
Reading in the English county of Berkshire where the film takes place
and which is also home to the Prudential head office
Cemetery Junction
is set in the 1970s and tells the story of three professional men
working at an insurance company, who feel trapped in a small town and
dream of escaping it. Freddie (Christian Cooke) wants to leave escape
the life he has as a working-class man while Bruce (Tom Hughes) and
Snork (Jack Doolan) are happy right where they are. But a meeting with
an old school sweetheart (Felicity Jones) forces Freddie and the rest
of the gang to make life-changing choices.
You be the judge, jury and executioner when Cemetery Junction digs into UK cinemas on April 7 2010.
