There comes a time in every comedians life where they decide
they want to prove they are "more than just a clown willing to dance
for money". The time has come for Jonah Hill, aka "The fat guy from Superbad".
In Cyrus
(which has already been gaining some major critical heat on the
festival circuit) John's social life is at a standstill, his
ex-wife is about to get remarried, the down on his luck divorcee
finally meets the woman of his dreams, only to discover she has another
man in her life - her son.
Written and directed by Jay and Mark Duplass, the iconoclastic filmmaking team behind Sundance Film Festival favorite The Puffy Chair, Cyrus takes an insightful and funny look at love and family in contemporary Los Angeles.
It looks good, but could border on being Step Brothers 2 if it goes for "easy laughs".
