As soon as the folks over at Hasbro made a
sweet penny off the Transformers
movie, they greenlit this Gi
Joe movie without hesitation.
The
only problem here is that... welll... surely the appeal just isn't
there? Giant robots have never been seen before - but army agents who
border on being superheroes? It's a little old hat.
Stephen Sommers will direct, from a script by Stuart Beattie.
The
story is set at Brussels-based GI JOE, an acronym for the Global
Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international
co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra,
an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer.
Not for me - but I'm sure it'll make the wallet of Marky Mark a whole
lot fatter!
