Bridesmaids was a break out film for a lot of people, it's hard to think of one person who didn't have their career skyrocket thanks to it's success (Chris O'Dowd, Rebel Wilson) however, there was one co-star who really took it to the next level : Melissa McCarthy.
It's amazing to think that just a few years earlier she was some sidekick on a washed up female drama show and is now the most in demand female comic of the year.
So it's of little surprise that she has decided to team up with another big star in this clever flip on the classic buddy cop genre.
The set up is pretty straight forward, especially if you've ever seen a cop comedy from the last 30 years. We've got ourselves an uptight and straight-laced FBI Special Agent in Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) who is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence arrogance.
Then of course, we have our bumbling comic relief in Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy) as one of Boston P.D.'s "finest," but is little more than a foul mouthed fool with a short fuse who uses her gut instincts and "street smarts" to catch the most elusive criminals.
Neither has ever had a partner, obviously, so it's only a matter of time before the two are teamed up and find friends in the most unlikely of places.
Yes, this is as by the numbers a genre flick as you are ever likely to see - but the talent on screen could well be worth shelling out the coins for, so let's just give it the benefit of the doubt for now!
