The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Sneak Peek at "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"
I've never been one for the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Hell, I'm not even a follower of the church of Star Wars... so it's pretty safe to assume my thoughts on how truly terrible and lame The Hobbit trailer looks are about as valid to you fans out there as a penis at an Ellen DeGengeres party.
That aside, the trailer for the new adventure featuring the amazing journey of Bilbo Baggins delivers more of the same Peter Jackson trademarks... computer generated landscapes and seemingly endless sweeping shots of said CGI landscape.
Storywise, I'm sure there's something happening here which books nerds will no doubt drool over.
Anyhew - for those not in the know, this puppy is set prior to the trilogy that went forever. It follows a younger Bilbo who is on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Sounds about right so far.
Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey takes them through the Wild, treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers.
Although their goal lies to the East of the Lonely Mountain (poor mountain, so lonely), they must still somehow escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever... Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of ingenuity and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities...
A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.
All of this makes no sense to me. But it sure as hell does to you. Look forward to some aforementione sweeping shots and soft focus creatures. It's quality time wasting if you ask me... AND YOU DID ASK ME!
If the trailer isn't enough, we've also included here some Behind The Scenes makings of the film as well as a look at the 1977 cartoon version of The Hobbit story.
