Michael Shannon is a guy to keep an eye out for. He has steadily made a name for himself in Hollywood playing disturbed types with such conviction, one could be excused for thinking he was going to drown your cat at any time.
He is about to hit the mainstream as General Zod in the highly anticipated Superman reboot, The Man Of Steel, and will follow it up with an even more terrifying villain... a real life one!
The Iceman is inspired by actual events, footage of which you can see below in a stunning and chilling fourty minute documentary (don't say we don't look after you here at Web Wombat!).
It's all about "The Iceman", notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski (played by Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon), from his early years in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men.
As the story goes, Kuklinski appeared to be living the "American dream" as a loving and devoted husband / father - but in reality, he was a truly ruthless killer-for-hire.
When finally arrested in 1986, neither his wife nor daughters had any clue about his real profession.
The film could go one of two ways for Shannon, it could simply play out like your stock standard slasher / mob flicks - or it could be the type of role that earns Shannon an Oscar. Considering he'll be a household name after Superman, I'd put good money of the latter.
Check it out, prepare to be chilled by the iceman!
