The
Last Airbender is an upcoming 2010 live action fantasy
film based on the first season of the Emmy-winning animated television
series Avatar: The Last
Airbender.
While know on Nickelodeon as Avatar,
it seems the juggernaut that is James Cameron's comeback film (also
named Avatar)
proved to daunting the Airbenders
producers...
The movie is the first film in the planned The Last Airbender
trilogy. It will be marketed and released by Paramount Pictures, MTV
Films, and Nickelodeon Movies. The series, influenced by Asian art,
mythology and various martial arts fighting styles, was created by
Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Adapted, directed, and
produced by M. Night Shyamalan.
The flick will star Noah Ringer,
Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone and Oscar toyboy Dev Patel as Aang,
Katara, Sokka, and Prince Zuko, respectively. Early word is that the movie is a stinker - but the trailer suggests there might be some hope... what do you think?
