Red Cliff

THE MOVIE CHANNEL | BOX OFFICE | MORE TRAILERS

Red Cliff, also known as The Battle of Red Cliff or Chi bi in it's native country, is the epic Chinese film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs and events during the end of the Han Dynasty - immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China.

In Asia, Red Cliff was released in two parts (totally Kill Bill style) as the film is rumoured to tick over at just over four hours long. Yawn!

But wait - what's that? The director is John Woo - I'm back on!

With an estimated budget of over US$80M, Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian financed film in history, luckily, Part One of the film grossed over $124M in Asia alone - breaking the box office record previously held by Titanic in mainland China.

No official word has been given on the Australian release date - but don't be surprised if it hit screens by late 2009. You heard it here first...
