If there is one thing the world needs at the moment - it's more Robert Downey Jnr. Since Iron Man hit the silver screen, Downey Jnr has gone from the "former drug addict" and "Star of Chaplin" to "A-List Super Star".

But the thing is - he has always been - as Anchorman Ron Burgandy might put it "the balls". A fact that those who caught his performance in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang a few months before Marvel comic book flicks took over Hollywood can attest to.

So here he is, in all his big budget glory - taking on one of the stuffiest most rigid literary characters ever... and making Sherlock Holmes "Snooty Detective"... also "the balls".

Robert Downey Jr. brings the legendary detective, Sherlock Holmes, to life as he has never been portrayed before. Jude Law stars as Holmes' trusted colleague, Watson (remember, the guy that is normally chubby with a handlebar moustache), a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally for Sherlock Holmes.

Rachel McAdams stars as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have bested Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective. Mark Strong stars as their mysterious new adversary, Blackwood. Kelly Reilly will play Watson's love interest, Mary.

The reinvented Sherlock Holmes comes from the mind of Guy Ritchie (who, lets face facts, needs a Box Office hit more desperately than Steve Guttenberg at the moment) and it look like it'll be uber cool... or a bit of a mess.
