They are one of Web Wombat's favourite
little Melbourne bands. After a gruelling tour across Australia to
promote their catchy little album, "Stand Out / Fit In", the trio The Basics have
embarked on a massive world tour which is set to span Japan, the United
Kingdom and Norway over the next few months - and we will be there
every step of the way.
Thanks to this new fandangled "World Wide Web", you can join Kris, Tim
and Wally (who just finished a successful series of solo shows as
Gotye) on they're adventures across the globe.
This weeks adventure see's days one to four (of the sixty day tour), in
which the boys embark on everything from Japanese green tea, outrageous
Japanese buskers and their own inner band politics! It's like Big
Brother: The Band! Should make for some interesting viewing...
Day
One:
Wally seems satisfied with his green
tea and is Tim wearing a Bawdies shirt?
Day 3:
Japan
offers up some more interesting food choices. Is this, in fact,
Japanese Nutri Grain? Iron Man Food!!
Day
4:
They arrived at the first venue Club
Kinoto in Shibuya to alot of
greetings, bowing and general introductions. Japanese venues are so
professional - the sound systems are great, as are the sound engineers
(they actually earn that title) and put so much effort into what they
do its great.
They did sort out all the forms in the
end - they`ve never had to tell
a venue what tempo their songs were at before!!
The First Gig:
It
was a great night for their first gig, with people coming from the
Australian Embassy (must have felt alot like the Year of Living
Dangerously), their friends The Bawdies came down, and the boys made a
few new fans too!
