Exclusive: British India - Live
& Acoustic!
The true mark of a performer is whether
or not they can get out
from behind the relatively safety of electric guitars and distortion
and strip the music right back to the bare essentials.
Luckily,
Web Wombat will have exclusive access to some very rare and
unseen Live Performances and Interviews from some of the best bands
Melbourne has to offer thanks to the boys from Channel 31's The
Shambles.
Next in our 'Live & Acoustic' series is Melbourne rockers British India.
For
those who have been living under a rock, British India is an
alternative rock band based in Melbourne - and have been one of the
most talked about bands of the last few years. The band is comprised of
Declan Melia (vocals), Nic Wilson (guitar), Will Drummond (bass) and
Dougy (Real name Matt O'Gorman) (drums).
The band is notable for
their single "Tie Up My Hands", taking the number one spot in the jtv
music television programme, with their debut album Guillotine produced
by Harry Vanda.
As seen in the interview, Nic and Declan opted not to play a song from
their latest album "Guillotine" - instead deciding to whip out a tune
which they cooked up only a few hours earlier (the show did air at
7:30am, so chances are the boys didn't get much sleep before coming
into the studio) called Sitcom Actress.
In
essence, this may very well be the first - or possibly last - time
British India ever play this song in public ever again. So it's
something of a rare musical moment.
