Let’s get this sorted right up front. The Futureheads’ fourth release (three albums and an EP) "This Is Not The World" is nothing short of a rocking good time.

While the last album might not have quite showed what this band is capable of, "This Is Not The World" will place them right up with their contemporaries such as Hard-Fi, the Kaiser Chiefs and The Rakes.

Named after a Flaming Lips song, The Futureheads are from Sunderland in the UK. Sunderland’s last significant musical claim to fame was as the birthplace of Dave Stuart (Eurhythmics), but if this latest record is anything to go by it will now also be known as the city The Futureheads hail from.

Sounding like a mix of The Clash, The Jam and Hard-Fi, "This Is Not The World"’s opener and first single The Beginning Of The Twist is just simply an awesomely fun rock song, it’s got a fantastic film clip too which is easy enough to find on YouTube.

Throughout the rest of the album the gems are plentiful, right up to the final tracks - in particular Sleet. It sounds like the band are really having a great time and after nearly breaking up following the release of their second album ("News And Tributes") that is a welcome relief for fans.

Stand outs would have to be The Beginning of the Twist, See What You Want, Radio Heart and Everything’s Changing Today.

But really, there isn’t a dud track on this disk, it’s all quality.

Long live The Futureheads!
