Music News: Green Day for The Simpsons
It's set to be one of the biggest movies of 2007 (like there could be any more in 2007, with news seaping through that Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has broken box office records yet again - pulling in over $400 million in it's first six days) but The Simpsons Movie is about to get a little bigger. Reports
have been leaked on the highly guarded flick, that rockers Green Day
have made their own rendition of the infamous Simpsons theme song for
the movie which is set to hit theatres world-wide on July 27.
As
part of the marketing plan, Warner Bros. Records (Warner Music
Australia) are set to release the song as a single on July 24 (just
three days prior to the flicks release).
It's also confirmed by
Matt Groening, the Simpsons Creator, that Green Day will appear in the
film (joining the likes of The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and The Smashing
Pumpkins who have previously appeared in the series). Surely some of
the world's biggest rock-stars would be slightly miffed at missing out. One
star who was dirty on not scoring an appearance is superstar Justin
Timberlake. Not only is he taking over the world with his album "FutureSex/LoveSounds" - as well as the awesome YouTube video Dick In a Box (type it in - worth every second!) - but now JT has his own Record Label.
Timberlake
will serve as Chairman and CEO of the new Tennman Records, a joint
venture with Interscope Records which will be based in Los Angeles and
will be distributed worldwide by Interscope Geffen.
That's one busy boy!
