Hot Chip - Night and Day
Comedy and music have always been intertwined.
From George Harrison contributing millions of dollars to Monty Python
"just because he wanted to see The Life Of Brian" made, Dave Grohl and
Tenacious D to Ben Stiller in Jack Johnson's "Taylor" video the
connection is clear. Comedians want to be rock stars, rock stars want
to be comedians.
In the UK, the trend has always been there. The IT's Richard Ayeode
directed a few Arctic Monkey's videos which led to his feature film
debut Submarine a few years ago.
Also giving it a go is Peter Serafinowicz, whose output so far has
leaned less on the laughs and more on dowright confusion!
As an example, just check out his first attempt with the Hot Chip video
for "I Feel Better".
The video spawned over 2 million views on YouTube,
and not surprisingly has led to a return to his Hot Chip pals for their
latest album.
His new video for "Night and Day" is even more dark, disturbing and
quite frankly non sensical. It also features a slew of comedian cameos,
as well as quite a bit of space action.
It looks amazing and, just in case you were worried, Peter Serafinowicz
has gone on record and said this about the video :
"Many animals were harmed during the making of this video. Regrettably,
none of them made the final edit."
