The John Steel Singers - Rainbow Kraut
By Sean Lynch
Every band has it's moment, whether it's big (like a #1 Record or
the ability to launch your own clothing line) or small (your first
standing ovation... or obsessive stalker).
Sometimes it comes from out of the blue, other times you can just see it coming.
The
John Steel Singers are definitely in the latter group. A band who have
steadily risen the ranks from "local nerd band" to "indie band to be
reckoned with", a band who were just waiting for the right single to
burst into the mainstream mindset.
Rainbow Kraut is that single.
The clip is phenomenal, with visuals harking back to Seven Nation Army but without those pasty white... Whites.
The
song is probably one of the catchiest this year, bringing back the
brass and making it as cool as it was when the sax was introduced
during Tackleberry's first love scene in Police Academy 2.
A classic in the making... yet deep down I hope this doesn't replace Evolution
as the closing to their live sets - which a song and subsequent live
music moment that everyone should experience at least once in their
life.
