The Kooks

* UPDATE*

Due to a quick sell out of tickets, and overwhelming demand for more from those who missed out, The Kooks are pleased to announce they are moving to a larger venue in Melbourne to accommodate more fans.

The Kooks will now be performing at Festival Hall, Wednesday 4th Jan 2012, with even bigger news that younger Melbourne fans of the indie chart-toppers will be delighted to know that the move to Festival Hall is now a licensed All Ages show with licensed and unlicensed areas.

All tickets purchased for the original Palace Theatre show remain valid for entry to the new venue, Festival Hall.

The new release of tickets for the Festival Hall show, are on sale from midday Tuesday 22nd November.

Be sure to mark down the on-sale details below and get ready to snap up tickets, as this will be the first All Ages headline show that The Kooks have done in Melbourne. Previous headline shows sold out out in lightning minutes, The Kooks at Festival Hall is more than likely to follow trend.

The Kooks will return to Australia in December 2011 / January 2012 for their first tour in three years and are pleased to announce headline shows around Falls and Southbound Festivals.

The Kooks third album "Junk Of The Heart" released in September, was written by The Kooks, produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Air, Belle & Sebastian), and recorded in The Sound Factory (Los Angeles) and Sarm Studios (London).

The Kooks' third album sees them consolidating their position as a bona fide album band with trademark breeziness and catchy hooks.

In a press release, frontman Luke Pritchard said "It is upbeat; an album to play in the sun".

"What we really wanted to do was build a proper, full album. Something you can listen to from front to back. We are an album band and this is a journey you come on with us" he continued.

"Junk Of The Heart" follows The Kooks multi-platinum debut, "Inside In / Inside Out" from 2006 which peaked at number two in the UK Album Charts and its platinum selling UK number one follow-up, 2008's "Konk".

The Kooks have sold over 2 million records globally.

The 2006 record spawned the top ten singles Naive and She Moves in Her Own Way, as well as establishing the band as one of the brightest new acts in British guitar music.

Having sold out two previous Australian tours, including a sell-out night at the Hordern Pavilion Sydney, The Kooks are eager to play to Australian audiences once more.

Fans will no doubt be hoping to hear classic songs from the back catalogue, as well as new material, when The Kooks arrive in Australia.
