The Best Of Lollapalooza 2012
It's one of the most famous and coolest music festivals in the world. With tens of thousands of music fans from all over the world taking over Grant Park every summer, Lollapalooza continues to be a destination for music lovers from across the globe.
It's hard to believe it's been twenty years since Lollapalooza first took the stage, from those early days of flannel grunge to modern days masters like Arcade Fire and Kanye West, Lollapalooza has taken on a life of its own.
It all started back in 1991 when Perry Farrell, lead singer Jane's Addiction, started planning a farewell show for the group. His idea soon morphed into a musical roadshow that would brought together music, culture, and community to fans all over the continent. Remember, this is before the Internet!
As the festival has grown up, it's also grown out, now spanning over 115 acres, multiple stages, and a ever-more diverse array of 130 + artists from hip-hop, electronica, reggae, indie, rock, modern roots, and many more.
This year there was a truly stellar line up, and in a sign of the times, it wasn't just those in the mosh pits able to enjoy the ditties. Yes, the power of the world wide web meant the show was streamed across the universe - for free - to anyone who wanted it.
Here's some of our favourite moments. Sit back, turn your speakers up to 11 and rock out with your... clocks out.
