The true mark of a performer is whether or not they can get out from behind the relatively safety of electric guitars and distortion and strip the music right back to the bare essentials.

Next in our 'Live & Acoustic' series is Melbourne indie pop stars Major Major.

For those who have been living under a rock, Major Major is indeed heavily indebted to the vanguard of alternative indie nerd rockers. Bands like Weezer, Pavement and Ben Folds Five, who were all about asinine sincerity and self-depreciating humour (not to mention catchy melodies and quirky vocal adlibbing). Major Major nails them all, and even gets that old chestnut, the handclap, just right.
