Music Video : Oasis - The Shock Of The Lightning
By James Wan
It's been a long time coming, but Oasis are
back with a vengeance. While their last few albums have really been
heard by the die hards (let's face it, modern day music fans seem more
interested in listening to those whore-ish Pussycat Dolls than actual
music), the quality output has been up there with the sort of music
they were putting out in their hey day.
We all know Wonderwall,
everyone seems to have a standard issue copy of "What's The Story
Morning Glory", but tell me dear people, how many folk have "Heathen
Chemistry" (the lowest selling of any Oasis
album - despite the fact it has some truly kick arse songs on there) on
rotation still?
"Don't Believe The Truth" was hailed as a return to form for the
brothers Gallagher - but for mine - something never quite sat right
with it. Could it have been the lack of electric guitar solo's from our
man Noel Gallagher?
Could it be the lack of any memorable single aside from Lyla and The Importance Of Being Idle?
Who knows.
However, the same problems don't seem to have affected the upcoming
album "Dig Out Your Soul".
This is classic Oasis, even the video clip brings back memories of the
dodgy days of "Definitely Maybe". The video for The Shock Of The Lightning
was directed by Julian House & Julian Gibbs, the same guys who
created the single and album artwork.
The
Shock Of The Lightening is the first single from the
aforementioned album "Dig Out Your Soul" - and was recorded in the
legendary Abbey Road Studios.
However good or bad this latest album turns out to be - it still
doesn't explain why the Noel never got around to releasing the
following song (as heard only on the soundtrack to the film Goal) as an
official Oasis song.
Who
Put The Weight Of The World On My Shoulders is without
doubt the single greatest tune Gallagher has produced since 1995. Yet,
you would be hard pressed to find a die hard Oasis fans who has even
heard of it. But fear not - we have you covered - here it is.
