Radiohead - Lotus Flower
By Chris Wood
Straight off their latest album King Of Limbs Radiohead have unleashed the first single in Lotus Flower.
The
velvet-like drone of this track brings with comparisons with songs from
Amnesiac to In Rainbows, yet the most compelling likeness it shares is
with Thom Yorke’s Black Swan.
The clip itself is as compelling
as it is bizarre – so it’s exactly what you were expecting! IT features
Thom Yorke himself pulling some abstract dance moves, and the viewer is
sometmes left feeling unsure whether he’s having a quiet joke at
his own expense.

The album is reportedly considered to be a ‘newspaper album’, with
the physical copy available from May 9th in the form of a CD, 2 10-inch
vinyl records and sheets of artwork.
I suppose the idea of
Radiohead going back to a conventional CD package is completely
unrealistic, and we, as fans are now conditioned to their pioneering
ways. Yet, I must say that I’m slightly confused as to what to expect
with a ‘newspaper album’. At least we know that whatever it looks like,
it’ll probably be very good.
However according to rumours and speculation , Radiohead fans may not have to wait too long for the follow-up to The King Of Limbs
release, with several claims pointing to hidden messages left by the
band as proof. After only revealing details of their new album four
days prior to its release, it now looks as though The King Of Limbs
will have a follow-up album.
The last track of The King Of
Limbs, ‘The Separator’ is considered by some to be the track that
separates it from the next album. Added to this, some fans have also
pointed to the order title of TKOL1 as proof that a TKOL2 is on the way.
I
suppose this does point to a strong likelihood that Radiohead do intend
to provide us with a follow-up to this amazing album, yet it doesn’t
necessarily mean it will happen straight away.
