Music News: Radiohead
Rakes In Good-Will

|
UPDATE
To
celebrate their most recent single release (they still have those in
England it seems... how very "90s") Radiohead have broken up the
song Nude into pieces for the fans to remix!
For
those who enjoy that sort of thing (let's face it - everyone you meet
these days is a "DJ" or "Electro-Specialist"), you can now buy the
separate components or 'stems' (bass, voice, guitar, strings/FX and
drums) and remix your own version of the song.
By adding your
own beats and instrumentation or just remixing the original parts, the
world can now take part in the new-tech age of music.

When you've worked you're magic, you can then upload your finished mixes here at www.radioheadremix.com and be judged and even voted on by 'the public'.
For those who don't want to work for thier music... Nude is also available in its entirety on CD and 7 inch (UK release) at the usual retail outlets.

As you may have heard by now, Radiohead
released their latest album, "In Rainbows" online - and in an
unprecedented move - asked fans to pay whatever they liked for the full
length downloadable work.
In what is set to become the trend, cutting out the middle man may lead
to bands making more than their 10%-30% cut of album sales which most
Label signed artist are entitled to.
A week in and the 'sales' numbers for "In Rainbows" have been leaked.
And it seems that the Radiohead boys have made out with a ton of money
- and a few extra dollars on top of that.
According to a sources, "In Rainbows" has sold in the vacinity
of 1.2 million copies as of the early days of October. That's almost
equal to the first sales of their last three releases combined.
A recent Internet poll revealed that the average price paid for the
album was roughly $8. For those with a calculator...that means
Radiohead are likely to be walking away with $10 million in one week on
this album alone!
Normally record labels will take out advertising costs, recording
costs, advances, distribution costs, and their cut - with bands only
making anywhere between $1 or $2 per sale.
Expect more and more bands to jump on the online bandwagon!!
