Music News: Silverchair & Snow Patrol Return

After
almost four years in the wilderness, a dabble or two into the
electronic world (The Dissociatives), broken up side projects
(Tamberline), countless rumours about breaking up, Australia's
favourite rock and rollers - Silverchair - are making a return to the
musical world with a new album "Young Modern" and a series of live
shows.
Most prominent is of course the recent announcment that
Daniel Johns, Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou will take up the headline
spot at Push Over 2007, an all
ages extravaganza which will take place at its new city waterfront home
in 2007, at Shed 4 Docklands, on Labour Day weekend, Saturday 10th
March from midday to 10pm.
Joing the boys will be a host of
Australia's finest musical acts including Something for Kate (whose
most recent album didn't exactly set the world on fire), Behind Crimson
Eyes, Karnivool, The Spazzys (the girls who are everywhere, but have
nothing to show for it), Bliss N Eso, Horsell Common, Trial Kennedy,
Children Collide, Mammal, Angela's Dish, Arpejio and Fire Underground.
The day also includes the FReeZA Push Start Grand Final with finalists
Lemonsmile, Silhouette, Inertia, Hiroshima Will Burn, The Fearless
Vampire Killers, 22 Strings, Low Vitality & Innovation plus more
finalists to be announced all competing for the top spot.
In
other touring news, teeny bopper band-of-the-moment Snow Patrol will be
heading back to Australian shores following the outrageous success of
their track Chasing Cars (which according to the rest of the world, didn't exist before Grey's Anatomy reared it's ugly head).
For those who are keen to check them out, the likeable lads are touring on the following dates:
Saturday February 17: Belvoir Amphitheatre, Perth Monday February 19: Hordern Pavilion, Sydney Tuesday February 20: Festival Hall, Melbourne
For
those who are interested what the show was like before all the hype
(yep, they toured here in early 2006 to near no fan-fare or young girls
screaming "McDreamy!!") check out our Gig Watch from their 2006 Metro show here.
