The Strokes - Under The Cover Of Darkness
By Chris Wood
Having being hailed "the saviours of rock" at the beginning of
the new millennium - reinvigorating the Garage Rock genre with their
debut Is This It - this New York outfit consisting of front man Julian
Casablancas, lead guitarists Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr. along
with bassist Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti on drums set about
blowing the roof off the proverbial rock world with their long awaited
return.
It's a classic Strokes sounding ditty, complete with
clean and catchy drums, guitar licks you can sing along to and the sort
of chorus that is just screaming for an audience to bellow back at the
band when they belt it out live on stage.

The song itself features a lot of the trademark Strokes moments with
multiple piercing guitar hooks, stop-start dance rhythms and most
important of all, Julian Casablancas’ soaring and laconic vocals glazed
over the top.
Listen close enough and you might also hear a familiar sounding phrase from a past Strokes song.
