Hot Pick: Yoav - New Clip
By James Wan
Let's get this straight right from the beginning.
Ever since
the Web Wombat Hit Pick was concieved, everyone in the office has
decided to put in their two cents (or in Feann Torr's case, $8.50
worth) and that just isn't what the hit pick is about.
... it should be a dictatorship of my own opinions!
None
the less, democracy has won out yet again - and thus I must submit to
the various requests of my musically ill-informed peers.
Our
latest hit pick is from South African born artist Yoav. You may not
have heard the name (and you probably won't hear it again after you've
finished reading this article) but his sweet melodic sounds are already
making waves across the world.
Born in Cape Town in the late
1980s, Yoav was only nine when he began sneaking to his neighbour's
house to listen to Wham! and OMD. You see, at Yoav's house, such "light
music" was banned, on the insistence of his father, a Jewish architect
who lived through World War II in his native Romania,
before moving to Israel (where Yoav was born) and then relocating to
South Africa with Yoav's opera singer mother. Only classical and opera
would waft through their home.
Sounds like Ther Power of One,
but bear with us - because the songs really do speak for themselves.
Sure, they may be "Light music", but sometime that's all you need!
Yoav and his ever so soothing
track - this weeks Web Wombat

Pick!
Enjoy.
