By Reardon Jones Sly
Cooper is back in this collection of his three previous adventures
coming to life again on PS3. The crafty klepto raccoon that is as good
with thieving as he is with the ladies is compiled for the first time
in one grand collection. Bringing together, Sly Cooper and the Thievius
Raccoonus, Sly 2 Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honour Among Thieves. Reliving
these games on PS3 was pretty awesome. Having played them before on the
PS2 it was good to see that they haven't just re-released the game, the
graphics have been improved to suit the more HD world and some levels
in 'Honour Among Thieves' have even been created in 3D to work on 3D TV
sets. Sly Cooper is a world renowned thief and along with his
childhood best mates, Bentley and Murray they set out to recover the
pages of the Thievius Raccoonus, the thief’s bible and instruction
manual on all things Sly. The other two instalments follow on from the
original with the reassembling of the ClockWerk pieces and the hunt for
the Cooper treasure being the focal points of the follow up games. I
loved playing this game again. Like Crash bandicoot or Donkey Kong
Countries, Sly is a platform game that is near 3D in effect. Jumping
onto Wires, climbing poles, running across rooftops, driving or flying
a variety of vehicles and performing a myriad of different melee
abilities as well as other playable characters makes Sly a game that
will be playable for hours. More recent gamers might recognise
some of the moves and game play from Sucker Punches most recent game
series inFamous, similar in the 3rd person platform game style. Those
more observant will also notice the Sly logo on Coles back pack and
jeans, as well as a billboard teasing at Sly 4. Which we can now
confirm is fact with Sly 4: Thieves in Time set be released in 2012. The
game play doesn’t alter over the trilogy and wouldn’t need to, with
easy to use actions and a wide world to explore, The Sly Collection is
a classic and will remain so for a long time, being the second series
to be remade for PS3, the first being the God of War collection, it’s
easy to see why Sony would be keen to add another adventure to the
collection. With a bit of luck number 4 will become a great addition. So much fun and memories come with this collection. Simply awesome! Game: The Sly Trilogy
