World Of Final Fantasy

Available October 28

Previewed By Steve Polak

Attention Final Fantasy fans. It matters not whether you are a fan of the older style smaller 'super deformed' characters or the more contemporary realistically sized folk from the game, as this new release lets you have the best of both worlds.

Not only will the World Of Final Fantasy let you alternate between large and small characters, but doing so will impact on your performance in combat and so there is a strategic reason to consider your stature at times.

It certainly will be interesting to see how this ability to switch between different sized characters is explained by the game's plot. Square Enix have come across an unusual gameplay mechanic here.

The developers have just released a playable demo of the game and the trailer is pretty amusing too. You can grab the demo via the PlayStation Store, while the video is below.

The narrative sees you exploring the realm of Grymoire and the visuals remind us of a more impressive reworking of the classic Final Fantasy games from years gone by, as the colourful more cartoon inspired scenery has a charm all of its own.

Continuing the nostalgic thread, the game will also feature Faris and Cloud from much older adventures.

On top of this there will be the option to capture and raise monsters called Pok. . .oops we mean 'Mirages', and these will act as familiars in ensuring battles. The game will also use the classic ATB 'active time battle' system made popular by the older games.

The World Of Final Fantasy will be released on PS4 and Vita on October the 28th. So keep an eye out for it.
