Izabel
Goulart

I've
never been a fan of the Eurythmics nor Michael Bolton, and quite
frankly neither has my
golden cocker spaniel. Understandably then, it comes as no
surprise that I absolutely adore the following
top model who has climbed the rungs of the fashion industry
ladder like a spooked monkey dashing up a giant tree, and
according to our spies she is relatively ambivalent towards Michael
Bolton (though the Eurythmics are another question).
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to
you Izabel Goulart.
Born
October 23, 1984 in São Carlos, Izabel is a
Brazilian top model. Not just any Brazilian model mind you -
one of the
best and up and coming girls in the biz. She was encouraged at an early
age by a hairstylist, while shopping for groceries with her mother, to
model. And if I recall correctly, the only thing I was told to do while
shopping with my mum was to "Shoosh, you're making a fool of
yourself". And that was just last week.
In order
for her to
to pursue her career to the fullest, Izabel moved to the country's
beautiful capital city
São Paulo. A young gorgeous girl, thrust into a potentially
surreal lifestyle in which she could work with her favourite designers
such as Betsey Johnson, Marc Jacobs and many other Brazilian designers,
this was arguably a dream job, opening the colossal and sometimes
controversial doors that guard the fashion industry's inner sanctum.
When
asked what was the best thing about modeling, Izabel says
"Modeling has given me something to focus on. It's a great job for a
young person. It has given me the opportunity to travel outside of
Brazil and see the world. I have been meeting many interesting and
talented people along the way."
And how
could you not. Put
simply, the girl is stunning. Perfect features, from her skin to her
glistening eyes to that cheeky smile - this five foot, nine and a half
inch (5'9") stunner is destined
to go all the way and back again.
Having already
appeared and
posed for photos with top photographers such as Terry Richardson, David
Sims, Greg Kadel and Vincent Peters, and having appeared in such
publications as French and
Japanese Vogue, Numero magazine, and Marie Claire, there's no telling
what is next for this blazing Brazilian. Her biggest step so far
was when she appeared in the 2005 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which
is best thought of as the Grand Final of fashion!
But
what does this Scorpio love more
than modeling? "Doing everyday things; buying fruits and veggies in
Chinatown, doing laundry, going to the gym, cleaning the
apartment... spending time with my family and my boyfriend, cooking,
bowling and going out with my friends...".
Hold
the phone, did she
just say what I think she said? Yes, I believe the terms "Model" and
"Bowling" have just been used in the same sentence! A rare occurence
indeed, and like the setting of the sun, something that is unlikely to
ever come to pass in our lifetmimes again. And besides, last time I
looked
the only people down at my local bowling alley were portly middle-aged
men, with foreboding underarm sweat patches and porn-star moustaches.
But
this girl isn't all about bowling and catwalks; there's more behind
that flawless veneer. What would she do if she could change the
world? "I believe that one of the saddest things in the world today is
that some people don't have enough food to nourish themselves. It's the
21st century and that's really not acceptable, so if I could do
something that would change that, I would be really happy".
I
would
suggest give up bowling for a start, you know, baby steps.
Beautiful,
caring of the world and has
the ability to destroy a seven/ten split - Izabel Goulart has it all.
Keep an eye on this bedazzling Brazilian into the future, as she is
destined to become a powerful force in the fashion world.
