| In
the sometimes strange, and
often fast-paced world of fashion journalism I have recently realised
that I've become completly engulfed in the world of fashion divas.
Understandable, yes, but neglectful for a number of reasons. As
you will no doubt conclude, I'm sure our male readership have
no significant problems with our choices of models and personalities of
late, but I've started to realise, what about me? What about my fellow
sisters? And though I'm in no doubt that
many of us with XX chromosomes love to cast our cumulative gaze
over the dresses, designer jeans, jewellery and the bodies we wish we
could have. But what about those guys we wish we could have? Why
haven't we included any eye candy for the females? Ladies...and
a
selected demographic of gentlemen, I give to you the scrumptiously cute
Adam Brody. Born and raised in San Diego on April 8,
1981, Adam Jared Brody spent a lot of his teen years hanging out with
his friends, having fun and surfing. Not unlike his geeky persona of
Seth on The O.C,
Brody began his working life toiling away in the depths of his local
video store: "I just graduated from high school (Scripps Ranch High
School in San Diego, California), and I was working at Blockbuster. Not
only did I get into movies while I was there, but I was putting away
boxes and looking at the kids on the covers, it felt like windows into
these seemingly perfect lives." And that perfect life wasn't that far
away. Upon graduation, he convinced his parents to
allow him to attend college in Los Angeles. However, instead of
enrolling in school, he disobeyed his parents and hired an acting
coach, signed with a personal
manager and soon landed the lead in the NBC movie-of-the-week, Growing
Up Brady (2000) (TV), playing Barry Williams (Greg Brady).
Those who
grew up with The Bradys will recall Greg Brady's foray into music as
Johnny Bravo. Brody, too, was no stranger to music - regularly
performing as the drummer in his band Big Japan. A multi-talented
artist, who's rich and
cute? My, oh my... Following
from the success of the Brady tele-movie, Brody was cast as the lead in
the MTV cult series Now
What?. His television credits
continued to grow from there with recurring roles as Coop in
ABC's Once and
Again (1999); Dave in the WB's Emmy-nominated Gilmore
Girls (2000); and standout guest starring roles
in Judging
Amy (1999), Family Law (1999)
and Smallville
(2001). Then
in 2003 came the role which made him a star. And which made women of
all ages swoon with enchantment. He later descirbed that
he'd never have a more life changing year "...than this
last one (2003- 2004). I could win an Oscar and it wouldn't alter my
daily life as much as The
O.C. has." The role shot him, and his
fellow young cast members including the stunning Mischa Barton,
to the
height of Hollywood. They literally have become the biggest things
since the 90210
gang (which may very well be more of a curse than a
blessing, but we'll wait and see). The big question
is this: has this new found stardom helped the former geek out
with the
ladies? Here's the answer from the horses mouth, so to speak, "You know
how in The Fugitive,
when Harrison Ford hears sirens,
he'll just subtly steer the other way? I do that when I see groups of
teenage girls." I'm
sure he's exagerating slightly - regularly spotted
canoodling with his on-screen girl Rachel Bilson. He was also named one
of Teen People's 25 Hottest Stars Under 25 (shared the honor with
castmates Mischa Barton, Benjamin McKenzie, and Rachel Bilson) as well
as the 9th hottest guy on Elle Girl's 50 Hottest Guys list. If you're
reading this Mr. Brody - and our server stats record plenty of American
interest - if you don't have ladies all over you I will
happily
help reverse this trend. Adam Brody is not just a
pretty face,
with an adorable mop of auburn hair, a heart-warming smile and a bold
jawline, not to mention hot property on TV, but he's also a very
articulate, intelligent human being. And you know what they say. Smart
is sexy. But at the same time, one has
think "Is
there life after The O.C?" Judging
by his growing film credits, perhaps
the big screen will imortalise the bashful Brody for years to come -
recently
being seen in the blockbuster Mr
& Mrs Smith and roles in
American Pie 2,
The Ring, Grind, Thank You for Smoking, In the Land
of Women and is hotly tipped to take on the role of 'The Flash' in the upcoming Justice League movie to be directed by Happy Feet's George Miller. And if
there are any girls out
there who are a bit worried that you may never get a chance at a
long, loving pash with Brody - fear not. He has a pair of fraternal
twin brothers
Matt and Sean. So there's hope for us yet!
