Does anyone else get the feeling that South African beauties don't get enough attention? Because they seem to be churning out stunning looking ladies at a rate unlike anywhere else in the world (statistically speaking).

This thought popped into mind after crossing paths with the eye poppuingly gorgeous Candice Swanepoel at a rather hi-brow fashion event last month. I'd like to name drop more... but that just isn't my style. Or is it? No... it's not... well, unless I'm trying to get you to sleep with me... which may or may not be the case. We'll decide on that later!

Anyhew, back to what I was originally ranting on about: Candice Swanepoel!

Born and raised in Mooi River, in a small South African province called KwaZulu-Natal, this unassuming beauty (who can speak both Portuguese and Afrikaans) has risen from humble beginnings to being known across the globe thanks to her connections with lingerie giants Victoria's Secret.  

At the age of fifteen, fate intervened when  Swanepoel was spotted by a model scout in disgusting flea market in Durban. Thanks to this chance encounter, Candice was earning upwards of five thousands pounds A DAY (which has led to her current day net worth of just over $5 Million).

When was the last time you made that much cash after being seen at a market scoffing down Poffertjes? Yeah, thought so!

Since that perfect moment in time, Swanpoel's has worked with some of the fashion world's best and brightest, and has been seen on the covers of some of the most renowned international fashion mags including ELLE, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and everyone's favourite, GQ. Happy to not just settle on the frozen image, she's also strut her stuff on catwalks globally for designers such as Tommy Hilfiger, Jean Paul Gaultier, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana and the easy to pronounce Diane Von Furstenberg.

Like it is for most of the world's top models, a sign of "making it" is being welcomed into the Victoria Secret world!  Candice Swanepoel moved into that world with utter ease, appearing in the lingerie giants commercials, featuring in the 2010 "SWIM" catalog (or as my husband calls it "the spank bank") alongside fellow stunner Lindsay Ellingson, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Erin Heatherton.

By 2010 she was officially "fashion knighted" and was named a Victoria's Secret Angel. Candice also modeled for the Kardashians' 2010 swimwear line... but the less said about that the better!

All this money and fame can come at a cost, with the poor South African girl having to settle with owning JUST ONE expensive apartment in New York. The rent ONLY allows her to vaction at exotic beach resorts in Miami and the Baltic Sea coast... with her boyfriend... sorry lads!

Just to rub salt in the wounds of those jealous of her looks, she's also a "helpful" too (yuck!). Yes, Swanepoel does her fair share of charity work (cough, tax right off, cough), her most prominate role has been raising money for cancer and the NGO Pelotonia.

So what have we learned? Well, if you are good looking and occasionally like to hang out at School Fete's or some crappy markets... you too can be insanely rich. Wait, I think that was the lesson to be learned... I'm not sure, I got distracted by a shiny object outside of my office window.

Is anyone even reading this anyway? Let's face facts, chances are you are a boy, and you are scrolling down the page as we speak to get to the images so you can "study" them for "scientific purposes". Sickos!
