Ehrinn Cummings
By Sara Templeton
Brazil
has arguably one of the highest numbers of top models doing
the catwalk thing, while countries like America, the Czech
Republic, Germany and our very own Australia also have many
models wowing millions.
But Canada?
Surprisingly, the part of North America that everyone seems
to forget - especially the Americans - has had quite a number
of beauties in recent times.
Estella Warren,
for one, is hugely popular across the globe, and let's not
forget Natasha Henstridge and also one of the fashion industry's
most recognised faces - Linda Evangelista.
But more recently however, new talent has emerged - say hello
to Ehrinn Cummings.
One of the nicest things we've ever heard said from a supermodel
is this: "If someone on the Web is bored enough to gather
information on some chick from Canada, then that's cool."
This is what Ms Cummings had to say about the impressive
number of Cummings fan sites on the 'Net, and while we're
not exactly a fan site, we're not going to turn down a compliment
from an uber-model (though we're not so sure about the "bored
enough" bit).
Born in Montreal, Canada, on March 14, 1981, the pretty Piscean
was discovered at the tender age of just 15, in her home town
of Montreal. Her mother, a former equestrian coach, and father,
schoolteacher, were both English born, but raised their family,
including Ehrinn's brother and sister, in Canada.
As we've already mentioned, Ehrinn was discovered at just
15, when a Next Modeling Agency rep approached her at a coffee
shop. Obviously, these model scouts are everywhere!
Maybe
one day we'll be hearing of a model being discovered in an
actual model agency building... Or maybe not.
Ehrinn Cummings was somewhat apprehensive at first, but after
the model scout mentioned she'd be entitled to a $2000 cheque,
she was all ears.
Her first advertising campaign was run in Canadian magazines,
where she was endorsing the latest shampoo range.
Some twelve months later, Ehrinn Cummings was working for
Guccio Gucci in Paris,
France.
As time wore on, everyone wanted to work with Ehrinn Cummings,
and she completed campaigns for the likes of Ann Taylor, Esprit,
The Gap and Sisley, in addition to appearing in Vogue, Cosmopolitan
and Jane magazine.
This year, Ehrinn Cummings scored her first global scoop,
getting a spread in the career-launching (not that she needed
it!) Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue (circa 2002).
Currently living in the second fashion capital of the world,
New York, New York, expect to see this 20-year-olds face in
many fashion campaigns to come...
