There is nothing we love more at Web Wombat Fashion more than a hard to say model name. Sure, girls named Brittany, Candy and Bubbles are more likely to have a more traditional "sexy" vibe (read : slutty) but if you want real class in a lady you can't got past having to phonetically saying a name.

Doutzen Kroes (pronounced Dow-tzen Kroos) is a sassy young Dutch lass from the Netherlands who is currently steaming up catwalks as one of the coveted Victoria's Secret Angels.

Born in the town of Eastermar, a province of Friesland in the Netherlands, Kroes gaduated high school and promptly sent a few sexy snapshots to the modeling agency Paparazzi in Amsterdam.

"I was 18, spending my holidays in a camp, complaining about not having pocket money. A friend of mine suggested that I could be a model" Kroes says of her foray into the modeling world.

"I found stupid the idea of sending pictures of me to an agency, I had the fantasy of being 'discovered' like Claudia Schiffer, in a nightclub. But I sent them anyways, without telling neither my family nor my friends, thinking that 'if I become famous I'll invent a more glamorous story for the press' and if I had been rejected, it would have saved my honour" she claims.

It wasn't long before Doutzen Kroes made it to the covers of Time, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Seventeen, Elle, Marie Claire, Glamour, W, Avantgarde, Dazed & Confused and Numéro Magazines. So much for product loyalty - she's been spread pretty far and wide!

In fact, she also appears regularly in the Victoria's Secret catalog and walked the runway of the company's fashion show in 2005, 2006 and 2008.

In 2005, she was selected as "Model of The Year" on Vogue.com and was featured on the cover of the May 2007 issue with Hilary Rhoda, Caroline Trentini, Raquel Zimmermann, Sasha Pivovarova, Agyness Deyn, Coco Rocha, Jessica Stam, Chanel Iman, and Lily Donaldson as the new crop of "supermodels". So, yeah, not a bad list of people to stand along side.

It's not the first time either, she even appeared alongside several of those previous mentioned models in the 2008 Pirelli Calendar. A calender which would no doubt make the Mayans just a little annoyed probably got far more attention that their own. If only the Mayan calander has a "Miss July 1807 AD".

Doutzen Kroes has done quite well for herself as a model as well, in fact in 2007 she earn an estimated $4.9 million alone, causing Forbes Magainze to give her the title of the 14th Top-Earning Supermodels in the world. Not one to rest on her laurels (or L'Oréal, which she signed a three contract with in 2006), in 2008 she managed to soar to #5 with an estimated income of $6M.

Kroes also is in the official Frisian provincial campaign for the West Frisian language which is her mother tongue.
