Sabrina
Ferilli is far from a shrinking violet, once giving millions
of TV viewers and local spectators a very provocative and
impromptu striptease at an AS Roma game in Italy's Serie A
football league.
It's all about the football in Italy.
In actual fact, Sabrina is a massive fan of the Roma football
club, being a Roman herself, and indeed sat on the board
of AS Roma's aptly named Fans Council.
But let's first look at where it all started for the much-loved
Italian luminary and actor. Born on June 28, 1964, in Rome
(Italy), Sabrina had always been fond of acting, and held
theatre in high regard.
Though her father was a Communist Party member and her mother
a homemaker, Sabrina had far more artistic aspirations, rewarded
in 1991 in the critically acclaimed film, Americano Rosso
(Red American).
Sabrina's professional acting career has spanned almost two
decades, and she's widely regarded as the Sophia Loren of
her time and has a massive following in Italy.
Besides a plethora of European films, Sabrina has also worked
on calendars, advertising campaigns and the odd modeling job
- and it's not hard to see how she came across such work;
the term sex-bomb is often used when referring to the
glamorous Italian.
In 1986, Sabrina plied her trade in the local Italian drama
circuit, the 'Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia'.
The
following year she made her filmic debut in Rimini Rimini,
followed by such Italian faves as the Ferrini-directed Caramelle
da uno sconosciuto (Sweets from a Stranger), Il
Volpone (The Big Fox) Nightclub, and Un Giorno
di festa in 1991.
By this stage Sabrina Ferilli's star was well and truly on
the rise, and her popularity in Italy was explosive. One of
her next flicks was the aforementioned Americano Rosso,
which exposed her to a wider European audience and brought
her to the forefront of many influential producers.
In 1993, she starred in a film directed by Marco Ferreri,
the same such man who worked with her on Americano Rosso.
Diario di un Vizio (The Diary of a Maniac) was
another smash hit for the Italian sex symbol, and was chosen
as the "Critics Award" at the Berlin Film Festival
that year.
Other films, such as Il Giudice Ragazzino (The
Kid Judge) and La Bella Vita (The Good Life),
were hugely popular as well, rewarding the thespian with yet
more accolades.
By
the mid-1990s, Sabrina's popularity wasn't showing any signs of waning,
and in 1996 she was chosen to co-host the Internationally broadcasted
Sanremo Song Festival, which is arguably one of Italy's most-loved
events, elevating the gorgeous actor to even greater heights in her
celebrity-hungry home country.
She also holds the record for the most
popular Italian Max calendar, which she featured in during 2001, and
which sold more than 1 million copies - testament to her incredible
popularity. The highest sold Italian Max calendar is the Sabrini Ferilli edition of 2001, which sold over one million copies.
Today, Sabrina Ferilli lives a fairly private (for Italian
standards) life in Italy, with her feline and canine pets
and you can bet your first born that she'll be appearing in quality
European films for quite some time, as she truly is an exceptionally
talented woman.
