Jessica Gomes By Sara Templeton Jessica Gomes
| Like a cool glass of ginger ale on a hot and windy afternoon, Jessica Gomes is refreshing and just a little bit spicy. Born in Perth, Western Australia, to a Singaporean mother and a Portuguese father, Jessica Gomes's "look" is leaving men and women slack jawed. Her
Latino-Asiatic looks are simply stunning and she is not only one of
Australia's most sought-after models, but one of the world's! With
a number of advertising campaigns already under her belt, she's a
proven commodity in the fast-paced and hard-to-crack world of modeling
and is becoming a regular guest at many A-list parties in New York,
where she now lives. It's really only a matter of time before she starts dating a major league athlete. Born
in 1985 in one of Australia's most isolated (and beautiful) cities,
Perth, a young Jessica Gomes was sent to a finishing school for girls
at the age of 13 to learn manners and etiquette. It was during her training to become a proper lady that Jessica was cast in the Western Australian teen drama called Bush Patrol, which ran from 1996 to 1998. The less said about Bush Patrol
the better, but the exposure it generated from a young Ms Gomes was
indispensable and made it easier for her to pursue other avenues in the
biz. Next on her list of achievements was a modeling contest that opened up doors to many fashion magazines. Appearances
in Teen Vogue followed and as magazine editors caught sight of Jessica
Gomes it was only a matter of time before she was appearing in the big
name glossy mags. Glamour magazine, Vogue and even an appearance
in the Victoria's Secret lingerie catalogue followed as more and
more decision makers discovered the natural beauty of Jessica
Gomes. She even did a topless spread for GQ magazine. She's
more of a mainstream model than a true 'fashion' model but anyone that
gazes at her photos and doesn't see beauty needs eat some fire ants. Since
breaking into the mainstream magazines it wasn't long before the
lucrative contracts started rolling in, and the Western Australia model
has since worked on campaigns for DKNY Jeans, Gap, Levi's, plus sports
brand Adidas and America's biggest telcom Motorola. Jessica Gomes can talk the talk, but can she walk the walk? Oh yes. She has conquered the catwalk as well, appearing in various fashion shows and according to bellasugar.com she's one of the sportiest babes on the planet. When
she's not striking salacious poses for the camera or modeling haute
couture, the New York-based model takes time out by practicing yoga,
dancing, doing gymnastics, playing tennis, surfing, swimming, and
boxing. If Jessica and I were best friends I'd do the yoga and
the tennis with her and probably chat about U.S. and Australian
politics in between, but when she does surfing and boxing I'd probably
go and get a coffee or a massage. She also likes painting which is nice, and interior design which sounds interminably boring. The 177cm tall model scored another
big contract with Estee Lauder, which is no easy thing. She's
the face of Diddy's Unforgivable fragrance. But really, how could
you not forgive a face like that? She's been represented by a
number of modeling agencies including Vivien's Model Management in
Sydney and IMG Models in New York to name a few. She told
bellasugar.com that her guilty pleasure is a "glass of rosé and
a cigarette...and then a piece of chocolate!" For me it's a cask of
wine and carton of ciggies, but that's besides the point. And what is happiness to the gorgeous Perthling? "Hanging out with friends and buying a beautiful piece of jewelery". We could so be friends me and Jess. Currently
living in New York City, Jessica is probably best known for her spreads
in the 2008 and 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which is pretty
much 'access all areas' pass to all the parties and launches in New
York and Los Angeles. Where to now for one of Australia's
brightest stars? Well, she did cut her teeth on TV, so we could see her
appearing in her ownMTV show in the near future. Whichever direction she decides to explore, we wish her the best of luck.
