Vanessa Hessler
By Ines Mendoza
If
Italy gets any more enticing, I may have to leave my comfortable abode
here in
Oz. Now I'm no big car fan, unlike my motorhead boyfriend, but even I
can admire the skills of Giancarlo Fisichella or Valentino Rossi. Plus
they have all the best foods, I'm talking about Pizza (the one
before the notion of stuffed crusts and deep pans) and
let's not forget that Italy is home to some of the most gorgeous
women in the world.
I
can't even
begin to describe to you what my room looked like when I
was young: models cut out of magazines, plastered across the walls
- my mother hated it, but she's in the old people's home now, in a kind
of karmic commupance. And if I were a lovable young scamp again, I
would no doubt
be gazing up at my wall with envy at the following woman. Ladies and
gentlemen, I give to you Vanessa Hessler.
Italian born Vanessa
Hessler is a virtual unknown in Australia and North America, but
throughout Europe she is quickly becoming an in-demand model. This is
mostly thanks to her appearances in a series of ubiquitous spots for a
regional DSL company called Alice, which Vanessa has become the highly
recognisable face of. More importantly she has also participated in
campaigns for Calvin Klein (when she was only 18!), Giorgio Armani, as
well as L’Oreal and Ferrero. The stunning 5'11" Italian
model has been blessed with blue eyes, blonde hair, a slender frame,
and a generous bust. However, Vanessa wears size 10 shoes, proving feet
don't make the model. She is perfect for the catwalk and has done
runway work for Fendi and Gattinoni. Determined to be one of the
big players in always moving fashion world, she has worked with
celebrities like Claudia Schiffer, and her gorgeous face has graced the
covers of magazines such as TV Spielfilm in Germany and GQ in Italy. In
fact, Vanessa is just about everywhere you go in Italy, thanks to a
wide-ranging series of promotional ads and billboards. Essentially, it
is her face that is keeping the country beautiful. If only we could
have a girl like that in Australia... As seems to be the trend
with many of the more successful models these days, Hessler has also
made her way onto the big screen playing an under aged nympho in the
2005 Italian film Natale a Miami. Even
a giant monkey and a talking lion couldn't stop this emerging
model-actress. Anyway, the movie tells the story of two men who flee to
Florida for Christmas after being dumped by their wives, and it was
such a hit in Italy that it outgrossed King Kong and The Chronicles of Narnia in its opening weekend. While
she doesn’t have any definite plans for 2006 or the near
future, it’s probably a safe bet that Vanessa will continue her
lucrative modeling work (with the occasional acting gig, when time
permits) and possibly even a voice over role in a videogame. It's a
lucrative industry these days. The only question that remains is
whether or not she can make it in one of the world's biggest consumer
markets - America. Given her exotic good looks it seems as though
it’s just a matter of time before Vanessa Hessler is a household
name in the major English-speaking countries, or at the very least, a
traffic-stopping billboard face.
